Our experienced groomers use dog-safe dental products to gently clean your dog’s teeth and freshen their breath as part of a complete grooming visit. Teeth brushing is available as an à-la-carte add-on to any grooming appointment, daycare visit, or boarding stay.
Veterinarians recommend brushing your dog’s teeth daily — but many pet parents find it difficult at home. Regular professional brushing during grooming visits is an effective, stress-free way to maintain oral health between veterinary dental cleanings.

Why it matters
By age three, vets estimate over 80% of dogs show signs of periodontal disease. Regular brushing is the single most effective way to slow plaque buildup.
Plaque builds up daily and hardens into tartar, causing gingivitis, gum recession, and painful periodontal disease that can lead to tooth loss.
Bad breath comes from bacteria in the mouth — not something a mint can fix. Brushing removes the bacteria responsible for odor.
Periodontal disease is linked to kidney, liver, and heart problems. Oral care is about your dog’s whole-body health, not just the mouth.
Veterinary dental cleanings under anesthesia are costly. Regular brushing reduces plaque buildup and extends the time between cleanings.
A good routine
Vet guidelines recommend brushing as often as possible — ideally daily, or at minimum 2–3 times a week. Here’s a practical guide.
The gold standard. Daily brushing removes plaque before it hardens into tartar — even 1–2 minutes a day makes a real difference.
A realistic goal for most owners that still provides meaningful plaque control and significantly reduces dental-disease risk.
Adding professional brushing during grooming or daycare every 4–6 weeks is an easy way to supplement home care.
Veterinary dental cleanings under anesthesia are still recommended annually or as advised by your vet.
Breed notes
Some breeds are far more prone to dental disease due to jaw structure, tooth crowding, or genetics. For these, professional brushing every 2–4 weeks is especially important.
Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Maltese, Pomeranians, Shih Tzus — large teeth in small jaws mean crowding and early dental disease.
Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Boxers — flat-faced breeds have crowded teeth and bites that trap food and plaque.
Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian Greyhounds — sighthounds are predisposed to poor enamel and early periodontal disease.
Goldendoodles, Labradoodles and others often inherit tooth crowding from the Poodle side, making dental care important.

FAQ
No — they serve different purposes. Grooming teeth brushing removes surface plaque and bacteria, freshens breath, and supports daily hygiene. A veterinary dental cleaning is done under anesthesia and removes hardened tartar, including below the gum line. Regular brushing reduces how often your dog needs a vet cleaning, but does not replace it.
Dog-safe enzymatic toothpaste — formulated for dogs, safe to swallow, and free from fluoride and xylitol (which are toxic to dogs). Enzymatic toothpaste keeps breaking down plaque and bacteria even after brushing stops.
Yes — many dogs that resist at home accept it calmly from a professional groomer. Our groomers are experienced with mouth-sensitive dogs and take a patient approach. Let us know at booking that your dog is sensitive and we’ll take extra care.
We recommend adding it to every grooming visit — typically every 4–8 weeks for most dogs. For breeds prone to dental disease (small or brachycephalic breeds), every 3–4 weeks is better. Combine with home brushing for best results.
Absolutely. It can be added to any daycare day or boarding stay — one of the easiest ways to maintain oral health. Just mention it at drop-off and we’ll take care of it during their stay.
